‘Namo Bharat’ will accelerate Delhi’s journey towards a Viksit Bharat: CM Rekha Gupta

Expresses gratitude to PM Narendra Modi, says Delhi-Meerut RRTS will boost connectivity, cut congestion and power NCR growth

New Delhi: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, on Sunday expressed her heartfelt gratitude to PM Narendra Modi, on the occasion of the inauguration of the ‘Namo Bharat’ Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Delhi-Meerut Corridor. On behalf of the people of Delhi, CM conveyed her sincere appreciation to PM. She stated that the inauguration of India’s first ‘Namo Bharat’ RRTS service and the dedication of the entire Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor to the nation marks a historic milestone for Delhi and the surrounding region.

This project is not only based on state-of-the-art technology but will also play a significant role in making travel faster, safer and considerably more comfortable for commuters. CM noted that the Namo Bharat Corridor stands as an outstanding example of the nation’s infrastructure development and is a matter of pride and joy for all. The advanced corridor, extending from the national capital Delhi to Meerut, will provide fast and reliable connectivity to hundreds of thousands of passengers daily. It will substantially reduce travel time and make daily commuting far more convenient than before. Additionally, with a reduction in the number of private vehicles on the roads, traffic congestion is expected to ease, and carbon emissions will decline significantly, thereby creating a positive environmental impact.

She further observed that PM Modi’s vision for the transport sector is clearly anchored in integrated, modern and sustainable development. His objective extends beyond merely expanding roads, railways, metro systems or air services; it focuses on connecting every region of the country through multi-modal connectivity with a fast, safe and affordable transport network. Under his leadership, projects such as expressways, semi-high-speed rail, Vande Bharat trains, metro expansions, inland waterways and the Regional Rapid Transit System have progressed at an accelerated pace. His approach is guided by the principles of saving time, conserving fuel and reducing pollution, thereby boosting economic activity and enhancing the travel experience for ordinary citizens.

This vision establishes transport infrastructure as a strong foundation for building a ‘Viksit Bharat’. CM emphasised that, in view of Delhi’s growing population pressure and commuting challenges, the project will make a significant contribution to the city’s overall development.

The ‘Namo Bharat’ Corridor will infuse new energy into the capital’s public transport system and help save both time and resources for passengers. Describing the success of the project as a key example of the country’s infrastructure advancement, CM added that it will stimulate economic activity in the Delhi-NCR region, strengthen employment opportunities and accelerate balanced regional development. Once again expressing deep gratitude to PM Modi on behalf of Delhi, she stated that the initiative is an invaluable gift to the people of the city and will serve as a transformative foundational step for generations to come.
