Mumbai | February 27, 2026: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney arrived in Mumbai on Friday, beginning a four-day official visit to India aimed at strengthening bilateral ties across trade, investment, climate cooperation and education.
Carney’s visit comes at a time when India and Canada are looking to stabilise and deepen diplomatic engagement after a period of strain in relations. During his stay, he is expected to meet senior Indian leaders, business executives and members of the Indian diaspora community.
Mumbai, as India’s financial capital, will serve as a key stop for discussions focused on economic partnerships, financial collaboration and clean energy investments. Talks are also likely to cover technology cooperation, supply chain resilience and expanding people-to-people connections.
The visit is being viewed as an effort to reset momentum in India-Canada relations, with both sides keen to explore common ground on global economic stability and Indo-Pacific cooperation. Further high-level meetings are scheduled in New Delhi later in the visit.
