New Delhi: Bihar’s rich cultural heritage, traditional cuisine, and emerging industrial landscape are on vibrant display at the Makar Sankranti Exhibition 2026, organized by the Bihar government from January 15 to 18 at Bihar Niwas Lawns, Chanakyapuri. The four-day exhibition is open to the public daily from 11:30 am to 7 pm. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and Labour Resource Minister Sanjay Singh Tiger visited the exhibition on Friday, touring the various stalls and appreciating the state’s arts, crafts, and technological innovations. Governor Khan said, “Bihar’s cultural tradition has always been inclusive, vibrant, and progressive.

This exhibition beautifully blends tradition with modernity and reinforces Bihar’s positive and developing image nationally and internationally.” Minister Tiger added, “The Makar Sankranti Exhibition provides a strong platform to showcase Bihar’s hardworking culture, skilled artisans, and innovative youth. It not only highlights the state’s products but also opens new avenues for employment, skill development, and entrepreneurship.”

Industry Director Mukul Gupta also visited the exhibition, noting, “The event effectively presents Bihar’s industrial potential, MSMEs, and start-up ecosystem at a national level. Such initiatives boost investor confidence and create new opportunities for industrial expansion in the state.” Bihar Industries Secretary Kundan Kumar described the exhibition as more than a cultural event, calling it a “live demonstration of Bihar’s tradition, talent, and progress, strengthening the state’s image in Delhi while promoting investment, industry, and innovation.” The exhibition features Bihar’s folk and contemporary arts, including Madhubani, Sikki, and Sujni crafts, local products, and famous regional cuisines. Stalls also highlight industrial growth, investment policies, MSMEs, start-ups, and innovations, reflecting the state’s economic development.

Visitors are particularly drawn to the AI-based calendar, which provides digital updates on Bihar’s festivals, cultural events, government programs, and special days via QR codes. Drone and modern technology stalls demonstrate applications in agriculture, surveying, and disaster management, adding a contemporary edge to the cultural festivities. Set against the colorful backdrop of Makar Sankranti celebrations and kite flying, the exhibition offers a unique blend of Bihar’s heritage, innovation, and progress, reinforcing the state’s identity while showcasing its development trajectory.
