International Forest Day programme highlights ecological balance carbon credit initiatives and recognition of forest conservation heroes across India

Lucknow, March 21: On the occasion of the International Day of Forests, a national forestry dialogue titled “Aranya Samagam Van aur Arthvyavasthayen” was organised in Lucknow under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, bringing together officials, environmental experts and forest department representatives to discuss the role of forests in ecological and economic sustainability.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasised that forests are essen    tial for the survival of all living beings and stressed the need to strengthen conservation efforts while ensuring balanced development. He reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting natural resources while promoting sustainable growth across the state.

The event also featured the release of a coffee table book by the Forest Department showcasing key initiatives, achievements and ongoing efforts in forest conservation and environmental protection.

A special segment of the programme recognised individuals and organisations contributing to conservation work. This included honouring children who showed courage during human-wildlife conflict situations, along with forest personnel and social groups engaged in environmental protection activities.

As part of climate-focused initiatives, carbon credit certificates were distributed to eligible participants, highlighting efforts to link environmental protection with measurable green economic benefits.

Officials and experts from across the country attended the event, reflecting a collective national commitment to biodiversity preservation and sustainable ecosystem management.

The Chief Minister called for greater public participation in forest conservation efforts, noting that ecological balance is directly linked to long-term economic and social well-being.

The programme also underscored the importance of increasing awareness about climate change and promoting environmentally responsible practices at all levels.Participants highlighted the need to integrate forest conservation with development planning to ensure a sustainable future.
