Vice President C P Radhakrishnan Pays Tribute to Kamaraj on His Memorial Day

Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan pays tribute to K. Kamaraj, recalling his contribution to education, irrigation, industry and public welfare.

New Delhi: Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan paid tribute to former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and veteran leader K. Kamaraj on his memorial day at the Vice President’s House in New Delhi.

The Vice President offered floral tributes at Kamaraj’s portrait and remembered his immense contribution to Tamil Nadu and the nation.

Speaking on the occasion, Radhakrishnan described Kamaraj as a leader who dedicated his entire life to the welfare of the people and remained committed to Gandhian principles.

He said Kamaraj lived only for the nation and public welfare, adding that he had no interest beyond serving the people. He also noted that Kamaraj passed away on October 2, Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, describing it as a reflection of the philosophy of “living as one’s ideals”.

Recalling Kamaraj’s contribution to Tamil Nadu, the Vice President highlighted his role in expanding roads and educational institutions, introducing the mid-day meal programme, constructing dams and promoting industrial development.

He said Kamaraj’s initiatives in education, irrigation, industrial training and industrial estates laid the foundation for the state’s agricultural and industrial growth.

Radhakrishnan further said that Kamaraj’s contributions continue to play an important role in Tamil Nadu’s economic progress and that his legacy would remain alive for generations.

Paying his final tribute, the Vice President said Kamaraj’s name and legacy would continue to inspire the people of Tamil Nadu and concluded with the words, “Long live Perunthalaivar Kamaraj.”
