Haryana Receives Three Prestigious National Awards under PM Surya Ghar Scheme

Gurugram, June 4 2026 : In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of clean and self-reliant energy, the Government of India launched the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana on February 13, 2024. By implementing this ambitious scheme effectively, Haryana has achieved a remarkable milestone at the national level and has today received three prestigious awards.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the Haryana Government has set a target of installing rooftop solar systems on 2.22 lakh households by March 31, 2027. To accelerate this objective and promote solar energy among the masses, several impactful initiatives, including the Solar Energy Promotion Scheme, have been undertaken under the guidance of the state’s popular Energy Minister Anil Vij.Vij has consistently reviewed the implementation of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and provided necessary guidance and directions to the concerned officials to ensure its effective execution.

As a result of these sustained efforts, Haryana was honoured in three different categories during the national event titled “Two Years of PM Surya Ghar – Expanding Solar Energy to One Crore Rooftops”, organized today in New Delhi by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India.

The awards were presented by Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Venkatesh Joshi, to Vikram Singh, Managing Director of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and Special Secretary (Energy), Government of Haryana. Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary, MNRE, along with other senior ministry officials, was also present on the occasion.

Based on its outstanding performance during the “Month of Solar” Campaign held in May 2026, Haryana was selected for the prestigious PM Surya Ghar Excellence Award. The state received recognition in the following categories, in which Second Position in Maximum Solar Installations with 11,983 installations, Third Position in Maximum Consumer Applications with 17,142 applications, and Third Position in Maximum DISCOM Inspections (UHBVN & DHBVN) with 12,514 inspections.

This achievement is the result of the visionary leadership of the Haryana Government and the dedicated efforts of the Energy Department, the State Nodal Agency, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN), Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), field-level officers and employees, and implementation partners working collectively towards the successful execution of the scheme. The Energy Minister expressed confidence that Haryana will continue to achieve similar success in the field of solar energy and make a significant contribution towards the national goals of energy self-reliance, renewable energy expansion, and green development.
