Mumbai- In a major push to skill development in India’s booming creative economy, the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra Film, Stage & Cultural Development Corporation Ltd. (MFSCDCL) to provide structured training and certification programs in filmmaking, media, and entertainment across Maharashtra.
The MoU was exchanged between Smt. Swati Mhase-Patil, Managing Director of MFSCDCL, and Shri Dhiraj Singh, Vice Chancellor of FTII, in the presence of top dignitaries including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Cultural Affairs and IT Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar, FTII Chairman R. Madhavan, and Additional Chief Secretary Vikas Kharge.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis hailed the collaboration as a turning point in Maharashtra’s creative landscape, stating that the state is on its way to becoming a national and global hub for content creators. He emphasized the need for formal certification and training to bridge the gap for talented individuals, especially in rural areas, who lack access to professional opportunities.
He also cited the rapid growth of India’s “Orange Economy”, noting the rise of the NSE WAVES Index from ₹92,000 crore to ₹1 lakh crore within months—highlighting the urgent need for technically skilled and certified creative professionals.
The collaboration will enable short-term certified courses in:
Filmmaking & direction
Cinematography & digital production
Voiceovers, dubbing, and sound design
AI tools in media creation
Scriptwriting and storytelling
These programs will be conducted at MFSCDCL centres in Goregaon, Kolhapur, Prabhadevi, and Karjat, opening the doors for thousands of aspiring media professionals.

This MoU is part of the Government of India’s vision to empower the media and entertainment sector, promote local talent, and position India as a global leader in content creation. The initiative will also support entrepreneurship, cultural incubation, and enhanced industry-academia linkages
