Raipur: The Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Thermal Power Plant (DSPM), Korba East, operated by Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL), has secured the third position at the national level for its outstanding performance in the financial year 2025–26. Energy Secretary and Chairman of Power Generation and Distribution Companies, Dr. Rohit Yadav, congratulated the officers and employees on the achievement, while Managing Director S.K. Katiyar, citing the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) report, said DSPM Korba East’s performance reflects efficient management and regular maintenance; the plant’s two 2×250 MW units achieved a Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 91%, surpassing the 85% targets set by both the CEA and the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission (CSERC), bringing pride to the state, while CSPGCL also secured third position among 33 power generation companies in the CEA’s annual evaluation, placing it among the top three nationally; the DSPM plant, with units commissioned on October 21, 2007, and March 20, 2008, has a total capacity of 500 MW and recorded 3981.22 million units of electricity generation in 2025–26, 248 million units higher than the previous year, outperforming other stations on multiple parameters, with specific oil consumption at 0.178 milliliters per unit per hour and achieving its lowest-ever net heat rate of 2606.49 kilocalories per kilowatt-hour, demonstrating high efficiency. The plant successfully met all performance benchmarks set by the CSERC, including PLF, Plant Availability Factor (PAF), auxiliary power consumption, specific oil consumption, and heat rate.
