Delhi’s first “NIPUN Shala” launched in a Janakpuri’s Government School, “Every child will become an AI Ambassador” – Education Minister

“Government schools will now surpass private ones; in 3 years, every school will be a Smart School” – Sood

On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s birthday, celebrated as Seva Pakhwada, Delhi’s Education Minister Ashish Sood inaugurated the first NIPUN Shala under the Delhi Government’s NIPUN Sankalp Yojana at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, No –1 C- Block, Janakpuri. This NIPUN Shala is a major initiative aimed at strengthening children’s Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) outcomes. The NIPUN Sankalp scheme has been introduced to empower students of Classes 1 to 8 with strong literacy and numeracy skills. Established with the support of Rotary Club, this NIPUN Shala will help improve learning levels of children and enhance survey results. RWA representatives from several blocks of Janakpuri were also specially invited to this event.

Alongside this, Sood also flagged off the NaMo Sugamya Rath and Sugamya Delhi Yatra (West Zone).

Speaking on the occasion, the Education Minister said that Delhi continues to take a leading role in realizing the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji. The Delhi Government aims that within the next three years, every school in the capital will be certified as NIPUN schools. This initiative not only strengthens quality reforms in education but also reflects the spirit of Seva Pakhwada.

Sood emphasized that through the NIPUN Sankalp Yojana, Delhi Government will ensure that every child in every government school achieves foundational literacy and numeracy proficiency. This program will not only help children learn better but also prepare them for success in higher education.

He highlighted that real transformation in education comes from improving learning outcomes. The goal is to make every classroom a smart classroom, enabling students to progress with technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI). “In the coming years, children from Delhi will represent the country as ‘AI Ambassadors’ at national and international forums”, he said.

Sood also noted that in recent years a false narrative was created in the name of education by showcasing buildings and claiming it as a revolution. “True transformation in education will only be achieved when children’s actual learning and comprehension improve.”

He reminded that Delhi’s government schools have historically produced IITians, doctors, army generals, and senior officers. But in the last decade, only buildings were highlighted, while genuine transformation was ignored.

Addressing RWA representatives from various blocks of Janakpuri Sood said that earlier your children studied in Government Schools, but gradually you started preferring private schools. In the coming days under the leadership of Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta ji the Delhi Government will strengthen these Government Schools so much that you will once again choose them for your children and grandchildren.

He announced that the Delhi Government is committed to making every government school a Smart School in the next five years. Already, around 21,000 classrooms have been equipped with smart blackboards, and the remaining 17,000 will soon follow. Every student will be provided with Chromebooks, smart classrooms, and technology-based learning the same facilities for which parents currently pay hefty fees in private schools.

On the use of AI in education, Sood said that ethical integration of AI will also help reduce teachers’ workload such as attendance through facial recognition, paper setting, and assessment automation. Thus, education will be made more technology-driven and effective.

At the launch of NaMo Sugamya Rath and Sugamya Delhi Yatra Sood stated that the Delhi Government is taking concrete steps to ensure accessibility for all persons with disabilities and senior citizens. The aim is not only to make government buildings and institutions accessible, but also parks, markets, bus stops, and residential areas through technology and design. For this, active involvement of RWAs will be essential.

He announced that a Purple Ambassador will be appointed in every block and park to ensure that the area is fully accessible to persons with disabilities and the elderly. He further said that this is not merely a government scheme but a campaign of social awareness and collective participation, which will make Delhi a truly inclusive and sensitive city.
