Delhi Government Restores Commercial LPG Allocation to 70% of Previous Levels with Strict Anti‑Hoarding Measures: Hon’ble Food & Supplies Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa

There is absolutely no shortage; supplies are stable thanks to proactive measures,” said Minister Sirsa

New Delhi, 27 March, 2026: Following the Central Government’s directive, the Delhi Government has issued a modified allocation order, raising commercial LPG supply by an additional 20% over the existing 50%, restoring availability to 70% of previous levels (6,300 cylinders of 19kg daily from the normal consumption of 9,000).

After securing major allocations for hotels, restaurants, dhabas, food processing, dairies, and 5kg cylinders for migrant workers and students, supply to labour-intensive industries, including steel, automobile, textile (with dry cleaning), chemicals, plastics, sports facilities, glasso, and pharma units, has been massively enhanced to 28.5% (1,800 cylinders), especially where specialized heating cannot be substituted by PNG. Earlier conditions on OMC registration and PNG applications remain applicable, except for these irreplaceable industrial uses.

The revised allocation order, building on yesterday’s 50% update, strategically weights sectors: hospitality, restaurants, dhabas, food processing, and dairies secure (3,375 cylinders); industries (1,800); essential services like education, health, railways, airports, and buses (225); caterers/banquets (225); government institutions, trust/PSUs/industrial canteen/subsidised community kitchen (225); sports facilities/stadiums(270); and for migrant workers via 5kg refills (180).

“Delhi’s industries and eateries can now operate without disruption, this 70% allocation is a direct result of coordinated efforts at the Centre and state level,” stated Food & Supplies Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa.

Continuous monitoring shows no hoarding or panic, with booking details reflecting normal demand patterns across Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).

This follows the recent hike to 50% effective previous days, which covered essential services at full quota while introducing priority booking via OMC systems on a first-come-first-served basis. “The Delhi government remains committed to fair distribution, urging consumers to book promptly and apply for PNG where feasible,” Sirsa added.

“We thank Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi for directing enhanced supplies and CM Smt. Rekha Gupta for her hands-on oversight, rumours of crisis are baseless as stocks stabilize,” the Hon’ble Minister added.
