DEHRADUN, March 6: The registration process for the Char Dham Yatra 2026 has officially started online, with the annual Himalayan pilgrimage scheduled to commence from April 19, authorities announced.

The Char Dham Yatra is one of the most significant pilgrimages for Hindus and includes visits to four sacred shrines in Uttarakhand –Yamunotri Temple, Gangotri Temple, Kedarnath Temple, and Badrinath Temple.

Officials said devotees can now complete their registration through the state government’s online portal or mobile application before planning their journey. Registration is mandatory for pilgrims undertaking the yatra, which is organised every year during the summer months when the Himalayan temples reopen after winter closure.

The pilgrimage will begin with the opening of the portals of the temples in phases starting April 19. Authorities expect a large number of devotees from across India and abroad to participate in the yatra this year.

State officials added that various arrangements are being made to ensure smooth travel, including improved facilities, safety measures and crowd management systems along the pilgrimage routes. The administration has also urged pilgrims to register early and follow official guidelines to avoid inconvenience during the journey.
