Centre Greenlights Four Major Railway Projects Worth ₹25,000 Crore

New railway lines to boost connectivity and economic growth across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat

New Delhi : Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Tuesday informed that 4 new railway projects have been approved in a meeting of the Union Cabinet under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Reportedly, the projects are worth Rs 24,634 crore.

This includes a 237 kms long fourth railway on the Itarsi-Bhopal-Bina route in Madhya Pradesh and a 259-kilometer line on the Vadodara-Ratlam route connecting Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh

Ashwini Vaishnav in a statement said, will cover 18 districts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh. India’s seven railway corridors handle 41% of the total railway traffic, and these projects will strengthen the capacity and connectivity of these corridors.

 

Vaishnaw said that these projects will not only increase the capacity of rail operations but also reduce congestion, save time, and improve the reliability of railway services. He said, “We have decided that at least four lines will be built in these corridors, and where possible, six lines will be constructed.

These projects include-

  • Gondia Dongargarh: Fourth Line, 84 kilometers (Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh)
  • Wardha Bhusawal: Third and Fourth Line, 314 kilometers (Maharashtra)
  • Vadodara Ratlam: Third and Fourth Line, 259 kilometers (Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh)
  • Itarsi Bhopal Bina: Fourth line, 237 kilometers (Madhya Pradesh)

October 1 – Dearness Allowance for central employees increased by 3 percent: 49 lakh employees, 68 lakh pensioners to benefit

The center has increased the dearness allowance for central employees by 3 percent before Diwali and Dussehra. This increase will be effective from July 1. Employees will get 3 months’ arrears. This decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by PM Modi. Now the dearness allowance for employees will increase from 55% to 58%.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed that 4 new semiconductor projects have been approved in the meeting. He said that 6 projects were already approved and today 4 new projects have been approved. Under this, plants will be set up in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab, for which an investment of Rs 4,594 crore will be made.

July 31 – Itarsi-Nagpur fourth railway line to be built for Rs 5,451 crore: Kisan Sampada budget increased to Rs 6,520 crore

Ashwini Vaishnaw informed that the budget for Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana has been increased to Rs 6,520 crore. This will benefit farmers in food processing. Meanwhile, Rs 2,000 crore has been allocated for the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC). This will strengthen cooperative societies.

June 11—Two multi-tracking projects approved in Union Cabinet meeting: Costing Rs 6405 crore

Union Minister Vaishnaw informed that two multi-tracking projects covering Jharkhand, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh have been approved in the meeting. These projects include the dual-lining of the 133 KM Koderma-Barkakana and the 185 KM Ballari-Chikjajur, with a total cost of Rs 6,405 crore.
