Captivating ghazals, folk songs, and dances celebrate Bihar’s cultural richness

Gopalganj: The vibrant stage of Gopalganj Thawe Mahotsav lit up with mesmerizing performances by the artists of Samayik Parivesh, leaving the audience spellbound. The highlight of the evening was the soulful rendition of ghazals written by renowned Indian litterateur and the founder-president of Samayik Parivesh, Mamta Mehrotra.

Popular singers Neetu Kumari Navgeet and Rajesh Kesari gave life to Mamta Mehrotra’s heartfelt poetry, portraying different shades of life through touching verses like “Aaj bhi khush hoon beete kal ki tarah, Fikr meri hai Ganga jal ki tarah” “Prem ka vaas ho jahan mamta, Prem kutiya bhi hai mahal ki tarah” and also “Khushiyon ko dhoondhte rehte hain, Jeevan mein dukh ko paale hum, Rangmanch hai yeh duniya saari, Kirdaar nibhaane waale hum.” Neetu Navgeet further enhanced the evening with her energetic performances of traditional Bihar folk songs such as “Ayi Giri Nandini”, “Patna Se Pajeb Balam Ji”, “Baba Dihale Tikwa”, and “Devi Maa Ka Pachra”. Her melodic voice filled the venue with a festive and spiritual aura.
Rajesh Kesari followed with his own enchanting numbers like “Odhani Ke Rang Piyar” and “Lale Lale Othwa Se Barse Lalaiya”, which were met with enthusiastic applause.

The musical journey was supported by a talented ensemble Ashok Kumar on banjo, Mukesh on naal, Aditya on pad, and Pintu on organ, all contributing to the soulful atmosphere. Adding grace to the rhythm, Arun Kumar Munna and Shilpa of the organization performed expressive dance pieces on folk songs, drawing cheers and appreciation from the crowd. The program was a vivid reflection of Bihar’s rich artistic heritage, beautifully curated and passionately delivered by the Samayik Parivesh team.
