Security Breach at PM Event Venue in Balotra Triggers Action, SHO Suspended

Youth accesses VVIP stage ahead of Narendra Modi visit, probe points to negligence

Balotra- A major security lapse was reported in Rajasthan’s Balotra after a man managed to breach the security cordon at a venue prepared for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit, leading to the suspension of a station house officer (SHO).

The Prime Minister was scheduled to visit Balotra to inaugurate the HPCL refinery project, but the visit was later cancelled following a fire incident at the refinery a day earlier. Despite the cancellation, the breach has raised serious concerns over VVIP security arrangements.

According to officials, the incident occurred when the man entered a restricted zone and reached the VVIP stage area, which is typically secured under multiple layers of protection. He reportedly recorded a video from the stage, which later circulated on social media, highlighting the lapse.

Police authorities described the incident as a “serious breach” and emphasised that preventing unauthorised access to such sensitive zones is the responsibility of deployed personnel. Preliminary findings suggest negligence by members of the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary (RAC) assigned to the venue.

Following the incident, the SHO of the concerned police station was suspended, and directions have been issued to identify and take disciplinary action against other personnel responsible for the lapse. Senior officers confirmed that strict action will be taken to ensure accountability.

Police also detained a few individuals for questioning in connection with the breach and later released them after initial inquiry. Further investigation is ongoing to determine the exact sequence of events and identify all lapses in the security arrangement.
