New Delhi : External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has underscored India’s rising global stature and its unique ability to navigate a polarized world while offering meaningful assistance during challenging times. Addressing the Indian diaspora in Spain, he emphasized that India’s foreign policy reflects the principles of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, and Sabka Vishwas,” ensuring inclusivity and development for all.
Dr. Jaishankar highlighted India’s evolving role in addressing global challenges, citing examples such as its vaccine diplomacy during the COVID-19 pandemic. India supplied vaccines to over 100 countries, showcasing its commitment to global health equity despite limited resources. He noted India’s instrumental role in advocating for the inclusion of the African Union in the G20, reflecting the country’s dedication to representing the Global South.
On India’s diplomatic versatility, Jaishankar praised its ability to maintain relationships with diverse partners, including conflicting nations like Russia and Ukraine, and contrasting allies such as Israel and Iran. He highlighted India’s active participation in forums like the Quad and BRICS, reinforcing its strategic positioning as a bridge-builder in international relations.
In his engagements with Spanish leaders, including Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares, Jaishankar explored avenues to strengthen bilateral ties. The discussions emphasized collaboration in defense, security, and sustainable urban development, with agreements signed to advance cooperation in these areas. He encouraged Spanish businesses to capitalize on India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, further solidifying economic ties.
Looking ahead, Jaishankar mentioned that India and Spain have designated 2026 as the Year of Culture, Tourism, and Artificial Intelligence, aiming to deepen cultural exchanges and technological collaboration. The visit reflected India’s expanding influence, underpinned by a commitment to fostering partnerships and addressing global issues inclusively
