New Delhi : The Embassy of India, in collaboration with the Diplomatic Quarter Office at the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, hosted a mesmerizing musical event titled Three Generations, One Melody on Thursday at the Cultural Palace in Riyadh. This landmark concert, the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia, brought together the enchanting sounds of Indian classical music with a performance by the renowned Indian Sarod Quintet, led by the acclaimed maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.
Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, a living legend in the world of Indian classical music and a recipient of India’s second-highest civilian honour, the Padma Vibhushan (2001), delivered an unforgettable performance. Accompanied by his sons Amaan and Ayaan, as well as his grandsons Zohaan and Abeer, the concert was a brilliant showcase of generational talent and tradition. The ensemble’s seamless interplay of intricate melodies and soulful rhythms captivated the audience, reflecting the deep-rooted heritage and enduring appeal of the sarod in Indian culture.
Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia, highlighted the cultural significance of the event during his address. “The Embassy is honored to co-host this remarkable event in Riyadh. This one-of-a-kind musical performance not only celebrates the richness of Indian classical music but also serves as a bridge between our nations, deepening cultural ties,” he remarked. He further noted the growing enthusiasm among Saudis for Indian music, arts, and cinema, underscoring the expanding cultural dialogue between India and Saudi Arabia.
