Mumbai, Nov 7 – Renowned actors Mrunal Thakur and Naga Chaitanya, alongside singer Chinmayi Sripada, have extended their support to Rashmika Mandanna following the recent viral deepfake video incident involving the “Pushpa: The Rise” star.
Amitabh Bachchan, Mandanna’s co-star in the upcoming film “Goodbye,” was among the first to respond to the deepfake clip, which was shared by a fact checker alongside the original video featuring British-Indian social media personality Zara Patel. Bachchan emphasized the urgent need for a legal and regulatory framework to address deepfake issues in India.
Mrunal Thakur commended Mandanna for her courage in speaking out and encouraged the public not to remain silent spectators when morphed videos of female actors circulate online, often zooming in inappropriately on their body parts. The support from these cinema personalities underscores the growing concern over the misuse of deepfake technology and the need for effective countermeasures to combat it.
