Bhansali’s Love & War Postponed Again, New Release Date Set for 2027

Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal’s period drama to hit theatres in January

Mumbai: Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has officially announced a new release date for his much-anticipated film Love & War, putting an end to months of speculation. The film will now arrive in theatres on January 21, 2027, shifting from its earlier planned timelines.

Backed by Bhansali Productions, the project stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles. The film was initially announced in 2024 and was expected to release earlier, but has since faced multiple delays.

While the makers have kept plot details tightly under wraps, the film is believed to be a period romantic drama, with reports suggesting that Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal portray Air Force officers. Leaked visuals from the sets previously hinted at a backdrop inspired by the 1960s.

The production team has reportedly implemented strict measures to prevent leaks, including non-disclosure agreements for a large number of crew members, as the film nears completion. This move reflects the scale and secrecy surrounding the project.

The film also marks an important collaboration for the cast. It reunites Bhansali with Alia Bhatt after their critically acclaimed work together, while also bringing Ranbir Kapoor back under his direction. For Vicky Kaushal, this will be his first project with the filmmaker.

With its new release window positioned just ahead of the Republic Day weekend, the film is expected to be one of the major Bollywood releases of 2027.
