New Delhi, June 9, 2025 — The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the commencement of a series of Career Awareness Programmes aimed at empowering school principals and counsellors with the knowledge and tools necessary to guide students in making informed academic and career choices. These programmes will take place between June 12 and July 26, 2025, in five cities across India.
The initiative is part of CBSE’s broader efforts to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes the importance of comprehensive, inclusive, and student-centric guidance systems within schools.
According to the CBSE, the primary objective of the initiative is to strengthen school counselling systems and provide structured support mechanisms that can better assist students in navigating their educational and professional journeys. The key aims of the programme include:
Equipping principals and counsellors with strategies to deliver effective career guidance.
Sharing updated information on internships, vocational training opportunities, and scholarship resources.
Aligning school counselling practices with the core principles and vision of the NEP 2020.
Helping students identify their strengths, interests, and aptitudes to make well-informed career decisions.
The board emphasized the urgency of building robust guidance systems that move beyond conventional academic advising to focus on holistic student development.
The awareness sessions will be held in five major cities, each hosting a one-day programme. Sessions will run from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with participants expected to arrive and complete registration by 9:30 AM. Below is the detailed schedule:
June 12, 2025 – Royal Global School, NH37, Betkuchi, Guwahati, Assam – 781035
June 20, 2025 – Delhi Public School (North), Satanur Village, Jalahobli, Bengaluru North Taluk, Karnataka
July 7, 2025 – Sunbeam School Varuna, Central Jail Road, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh
July 18, 2025 – Doon International School, Riverside Campus, Paundha, Dehradun
July 26, 2025 – Rockwoods High School, Chitrakoot Nagar, Bhuwana, Udaipur, Rajasthan
Each location has been selected to ensure broad regional representation and accessibility for schools affiliated with the CBSE.
CBSE has invited principals and counsellors of its affiliated schools to register for the programme through dedicated online links provided for each venue. Since the number of seats is limited, participation will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis. Selected participants will receive an official confirmation email from the board.
Importantly, all travel and accommodation expenses (TA/DA) are to be borne by the participants themselves, and schools are advised to plan accordingly.
These career awareness programmes signify a significant step toward ensuring that every student receives structured, timely, and personalized guidance. As schools increasingly face the challenge of navigating a competitive and dynamic academic environment, CBSE’s effort to build capacity among educators and counsellors is a welcome move aligned with India’s national educational aspirations.
By empowering educators with updated tools and frameworks, CBSE aims to foster career readiness, awareness of emerging opportunities, and stronger student outcomes across the country.
For further details and registration links, affiliated schools are advised to check official communications issued by CBSE.
