CHRIST University’s SDG Cell Organises Child Safety Workshop, Stationery Donation Drive in Delhi NCR

Interactive activities educate schoolchildren on personal boundaries and safe behaviour, while stationery donations support inclusive education

Delhi NCR, October 9: The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Cell of the School of Social Sciences at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Delhi NCR, organised a child safety awareness workshop and stationery donation drive at Sewa Bharti Vivekanand Vidya Mandir in collaboration with the Gayatri Nanda Foundation.

Titled “My Body, My Boundaries: A Child Safety and Personal Boundaries Awareness Workshop,” the initiative aimed to sensitise students to personal safety, bodily autonomy and the importance of recognising and responding appropriately to uncomfortable situations.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Reeta Tomar, Faculty Coordinator of the SDG Cell, with the support of Vidushi Rawat, Founder of the Gayatri Nanda Foundation, and Smt. Seema Bhasin, Principal of Sewa Bharti Vivekanand Vidya Mandir.

The workshop was organised and led by Rishita Dang, President of the SDG Cell, and Jhanvi Gupta, Vice President, along with student coordinators Janavi Raj, Udit Shekhawat, Mauli Arora, Hitakshi Jain and Pehal Khanna.

Interactive activities promote child safety

The workshop featured an interactive role-play skit illustrating safe and unsafe situations, helping students understand personal boundaries and appropriate responses to unwanted touch.

A safe-and-unsafe situation identification activity encouraged children to recognise potentially uncomfortable circumstances in their everyday lives. A colouring activity further reinforced the concepts through creative, age-appropriate learning.

Discussions during the session highlighted the importance of saying “no” to unwanted touch, moving away from unsafe situations and seeking assistance from trusted adults.

Students who performed well in the role-play and worksheet-based activities were awarded prizes in recognition of their participation, enthusiasm and understanding of the concepts.

Stationery drive supports education

The programme also included a stationery donation drive, through which educational supplies collected from university students and faculty members were distributed to schoolchildren.

The initiative aimed to support students’ educational needs while encouraging empathy, generosity and social responsibility among the university community.

The combined outreach effort reflects the SDG Cell’s commitment to child well-being, community engagement and inclusive education. It aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), alongside SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education).

Through awareness-building activities and community support, the initiative underscored the importance of creating environments where every child feels safe, heard and protected.
