New Delhi- The North-West District Police conducted an intensive enforcement drive under “Operation Sajag” to curb crime and criminal activities across the district, resulting in the apprehension of 33 persons, including alleged robbers, snatchers, thieves, drug peddlers, gamblers, receivers and illegal foreign nationals.
According to the police, the drive focused on preventing street crime, snatching, theft, drug trafficking, illegal arms possession and crimes involving illegal migrants. The operation involved intensified patrolling, technical surveillance, intelligence-based operations and targeted enforcement.
During the drive, police recovered ₹85,150 in cash, 37 stolen or snatched mobile phones, three mobile phones linked to Bangladeshi nationals, 3.116 kg of ganja, eight stolen or crime-linked two-wheelers, two button-actuated knives and ₹1,000 in partially recovered robbed cash.


Police teams from PS Shalimar Bagh apprehended a 34-year-old man near Fortis Hospital based on specific information. Twenty-six suspected stolen or snatched mobile phones were recovered from his possession.
Police said some of the phones were linked to cases and lost reports registered at police stations including Ashok Vihar, Maurya Enclave, Sarai Rohini, Mukherjee Nagar and Dankaur in Uttar Pradesh. Further investigation is underway to establish the ownership and links of the remaining phones.


The Foreigners Cell of North-West District apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals in separate operations.
In the first operation, a 44-year-old man was apprehended near NS Mandi after a six-month investigation. Police said he had allegedly been residing illegally in India for around 20 years and was using a female disguise to conceal his identity. A smartphone containing the banned IMO application and Bangladeshi identity documents were recovered.
In another operation on October 5, police apprehended two women, aged 41 and 47, who were allegedly residing illegally in India for around four years without valid travel or identity documents. Both were produced before the FRRO and deportation proceedings were initiated.
The staff of PS Subhash Place arrested a woman and a man in connection with the robbery of ₹2,000 from a Swiggy delivery executive. The victim was allegedly threatened with a blade.
Police recovered ₹1,000 of the allegedly robbed cash. The male accused was also found previously involved in two cases related to robbery and the Arms Act.
Police teams from PS Model Town arrested two men within hours of a mobile snatching incident in Kalyan Vihar. Five stolen or snatched mobile phones, including the complainant’s phone, and a stolen TVS Apache motorcycle were recovered.
Police said one of the accused had been previously involved in 16 criminal cases related to robbery, theft, snatching and the Arms Act. Clothing and footwear allegedly used to change appearance after snatching incidents were also recovered.
In another Model Town case, three children in conflict with law (CCLs) were apprehended in connection with mobile snatching, followed by the arrest of an alleged receiver. The complainant’s OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite mobile phone was recovered.
The PS Jahangir Puri team also arrested two men in a mobile snatching case and recovered the stolen phone and a Bajaj Platina motorcycle allegedly used in the crime. Police said their interrogation helped detect four additional cases of mobile snatching and motorcycle theft.
Police teams also carried out action under the NDPS Act.
At WPIA, Ashok Vihar, police apprehended a 39-year-old alleged habitual offender and recovered 2.016 kg of ganja. Police said the accused had been previously involved in 10 criminal cases, including robbery, Arms Act offences, murder, attempt to murder and burglary.
In another operation near New Subzi Mandi, Mahendra Park, police arrested a 22-year-old alleged ganja supplier and recovered 1.1 kg of ganja. Police said the accused was allegedly bringing ganja from Bihar for supply in Delhi. Further investigation is underway to trace the supply network.
At PS Adarsh Nagar, police arrested a 35-year-old man and recovered a button-actuated knife, three stolen mobile phones and a Splendor motorcycle. His arrest allegedly helped solve 10 criminal cases.
At PS Mukherjee Nagar, another man was arrested with a button-actuated knife, a stolen Apache motorcycle and a snatched mobile phone. Police said the arrest helped solve cases registered at PS Karol Bagh and PS Timarpur.
The team of PP Sangam Park, PS Bharat Nagar, apprehended a child in conflict with law in a motor vehicle theft case and recovered four stolen two-wheelers.
Police said the vehicles included one CD Deluxe motorcycle and three scooters, helping solve four vehicle theft cases registered at different police stations. One stolen motorcycle was recovered within six hours of the registration of the e-FIR.
The AATS/North-West District team arrested four persons allegedly involved in gambling and satta activities in the Shakurpur area. Police recovered ₹28,720, along with gambling-related material.
Separately, the PS Jahangir Puri team apprehended 10 persons allegedly involved in gambling activities near H-4 Block, Jahangir Puri. Police recovered ₹56,430, along with pens, carbon papers and betting slips.
Police said further preventive and enforcement action will continue against criminals and anti-social elements under Operation Sajag.
