New Delhi– Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday launched a cashless medical facility for over 50,000 pensioners and family pensioners of the Delhi Jal Board under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’. The new facility will provide significant relief to retired employees who served the Delhi Jal Board for years and their families by easing the financial and procedural difficulties they faced during medical treatment. Delhi Water Minister Shri Parvesh Sahib Singh, Delhi Jal Board Vice Chairman and MLA Shri Satish Upadhyay, along with board members, senior officials and other dignitaries, were present on the occasion.

The Chief Minister said Delhi Jal Board pensioners and family pensioners had devoted a significant part of their lives to serving Delhi. It was therefore the government’s responsibility to ensure that, at this stage of their lives, they receive better healthcare facilities in an easy and dignified manner. Earlier, whenever pensioners needed treatment for an illness, they had to pay the medical expenses from their own pockets first. They then had to apply for reimbursement and go through a lengthy process, which was particularly difficult and cumbersome for elderly pensioners.

CM Rekha Gupta said the government understood this problem faced by pensioners and worked towards introducing the facility. There were several hurdles and challenges in implementing the system, but the government overcame them and dedicated the facility to pensioners today. She said the government’s objective was not merely to launch schemes, but to create systems that make people’s lives easier. For employees who served the Delhi Jal Board for years, the initiative is a mark of respect and gratitude for their contribution. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the double-engine government aims to provide Delhiites with better, simpler and more accessible services.

Delhi Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh said Delhi Jal Board employees and pensioners had dedicated their lives to serving Delhi. It was therefore not appropriate for them to go through paperwork and a lengthy reimbursement process for medical treatment after retirement. It was with this objective that the cashless medical facility had been introduced. More than 50,000 pensioners and family pensioners will benefit from the facility. The entire process has been made simpler and more convenient through a single-window system. This is not merely a medical facility, but also a reflection of the respect and sense of responsibility towards employees who made a significant contribution to providing water and sewer services to households across Delhi for years.
