Delhi Police Holds Interstate Coordination Meet Ahead of BRICS Summit

New Delhi, September 3, 2026; The Delhi Police on Thursday held an interstate coordination meeting at the Delhi Police Headquarters ahead of the BRICS Summit scheduled to be held in New Delhi from September 11 to 13, with senior law enforcement officials discussing measures to ensure the event remains incident-free.

The meeting was chaired by the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, and attended by senior police officers from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chandigarh. The discussions focused on strengthening coordination among law enforcement agencies and ensuring seamless implementation of security and traffic arrangements during the summit.

Senior officers from various Delhi Police units, including Law and Order, Special Cell, Traffic, Security, Crime, Transport and Intelligence, participated in the meeting. Joint/Additional Commissioners of Police from different ranges and specialised units, along with Deputy Commissioners of Police from districts, Crime, IGI Airport and PCR, were also present.

The participating officers shared intelligence inputs and discussed coordinated measures related to border checking, traffic regulation and verification of suspicious persons and vehicles. The movement of drones and other flying objects from open areas was also reviewed as part of the security preparedness.

The meeting stressed the importance of sharing advance information regarding the movement of suspicious persons, vehicles or other potential security threats. Measures concerning traffic restrictions during the BRICS Summit and preventing unauthorised movement across inter-state borders were also discussed and shared with officers from neighbouring states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

Officials from the participating states and UT assured full cooperation and close coordination with Delhi Police for the effective implementation of the planned security and traffic measures.

The Commissioner of Police, Delhi, appreciated the cooperation extended by neighbouring police forces during previous major events and called for similar coordination during the BRICS Summit.

At the meeting, the Delhi Police leadership also emphasised the need to minimise inconvenience to the general public during the summit period. Authorities were directed to ensure widespread awareness about traffic restrictions through print and electronic media, social media platforms and FM radio.

NCR police authorities were also requested to issue traffic advisories in their respective areas to keep commuters informed about restrictions and diversions.

The meeting further stressed the need to regulate non-destined vehicles in areas affected by summit-related restrictions. Officials were asked to ensure that alternate routes available to the general public remain free from encroachments and unauthorised parking to facilitate smooth traffic movement.

The interstate coordination exercise is aimed at ensuring that security agencies across the National Capital Region remain closely connected before and during the high-level international summit. Officers from all participating states and the UT were requested to maintain continuous coordination and extend full support for the effective implementation of the arrangements.
