Indian Railways Sanctions ₹125 Crore Bhavnagar Para Yard Upgrade to Boost Train Operations

₹125 Crore Bhavnagar Para Yard Project Approved by Indian Railways

Bhavnagar-  Indian Railways has approved a major infrastructure upgrade at Bhavnagar Para in Gujarat, with an estimated investment of ₹125 crore aimed at increasing railway handling capacity and making train operations more efficient in the region.

The Bhavnagar Para Yard Remodeling project is expected to take some of the operational pressure off Bhavnagar Terminus by providing additional space for activities such as train stabling and rake management. The move is likely to improve the movement of trains, minimise delays caused by rake detention and support better punctuality.

As part of the redevelopment, the Bhavnagar Para yard will receive four loop lines and a dedicated engine reversal line. Facilities for Accident Relief Train (ART) and Accident Relief Medical Equipment (ARME) will also be incorporated into the upgraded yard.

The project includes shifting the existing Station and Electronic Interlocking (EI) buildings, along with the construction of supporting service infrastructure. Signalling and electrical systems will also be upgraded as part of the overall redevelopment.

Passenger amenities at Bhavnagar Para station are also set to receive a significant boost. The plan includes a new high-level island platform and expansion of the existing Platform No. 2.

Connectivity between different parts of the station will be improved through the extension of the existing Foot Over Bridge (FOB) and construction of an additional FOB.

The project further provides for two Road Under Bridges (RUBs), comprising one new structure and the expansion of an existing facility. These additions are expected to improve movement around the railway premises and strengthen connectivity.

The yard redevelopment is expected to give railway authorities greater flexibility in handling train movements and managing rakes. By shifting selected operational activities away from Bhavnagar Terminus, the project will create additional working capacity while reducing congestion.

For passengers, the upgraded platforms, improved pedestrian connectivity and additional infrastructure are expected to make access to railway services more convenient.

The ₹125 crore project represents a significant investment in Bhavnagar’s railway infrastructure and is aimed at creating additional operational capacity while improving the overall travel experience for passengers in Bhavnagar and nearby areas.
