Delhi government signs key agreements with two private companies in the presence of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta

New Delhi, 31 August 2026 :Under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi government has taken a significant step towards transforming urban public spaces through public-private partnerships. In the presence of the Chief Minister, MoUs were signed on Monday between the Delhi government (PWD) and two companies. The partnership aims to transform neglected or underutilised spaces under and around flyovers into clean, green, safe and useful public spaces for citizens. The initiative will bring together cleanliness, greenery, beautification, safety, pedestrian movement and environmental awareness. Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, senior officials from the concerned departments and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

Deepali to Mangolpuri Market to be transformed

Under an initiative by Dixon Technologies and Vrikshit Foundation, neglected spaces along the 2.5-km stretch from Deepali to Mangolpuri Market (the area beneath the flyover) are planned to be developed as clean, green and safe community spaces. As part of the project, fencing will be installed along the approximately 2.5-km stretch of the flyover. Environment-friendly mural paintings and artworks based on environmental and clean energy themes will be created across around 5,100 square metres on 61 pillars of the flyover. Organised greenery will be developed using local plant species, grass, shrubs and flowering plants.

Green belts along Mathura Road and MP Road to be developed

As part of a CSR initiative, the Kanodia Group will undertake the development and long-term maintenance of the green belt around Mathura Road and MP Road. At present, issues such as waste dumping, illegal slums, roadside encroachments and unplanned use of these areas are affecting their greenery, cleanliness, safety and overall appearance. The green belts will be developed through local plant species, organised landscaping and improved maintenance. The proposed development will include organised green spaces, flowering plants, shrubs and trees, pedestrian pathways, lighting and attractive public spaces. This will enhance the greenery and appearance of the area while providing citizens with a better and more convenient environment.

Better public spaces to be made available

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said building a clean, green and beautiful Delhi is a collective responsibility of the government, society and the private sector. The Delhi government is encouraging public-private partnerships through which neglected spaces across the city can be transformed into better, safer, attractive and environment-friendly public spaces for citizens. The goal of Delhi’s development is not limited to creating new infrastructure, but also to make better use of existing urban spaces and improve the quality of life of citizens. The transformation of spaces under flyovers and green belts along major roads is part of this approach.

The Chief Minister said these initiatives would improve the appearance and identity of Delhi’s major corridors, increase greenery, promote cleanliness and provide citizens with better public spaces. At the same time, CSR participation by the private sector will strengthen the long-term maintenance of these areas. The Delhi government will continue to take forward such initiatives in the future with the participation of government institutions, the private sector and citizens.

Together, we will make Delhi clean and beautiful

Thanking Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on the occasion, Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh said the Delhi government is continuously working to make the city clean and beautiful in line with the Chief Minister’s vision. He said the Chief Minister had, from the beginning, directed that the areas around Delhi’s flyovers and along roads should be properly beautified and developed. He also thanked both partner institutions for coming forward and taking responsibility for the initiative, saying their participation would give momentum to the work. The government will encourage every effort that contributes to making Delhi better, and such initiatives will be taken forward as a positive example of public participation. He expressed confidence that the partnership between the government and the private sector would continue to grow stronger and give fresh momentum to the resolve to make Delhi clean, beautiful and green.
