India and Kuwait explore deeper cooperation in trade, industry and food security

Kuwait City, August 24, 2026; India and Kuwait have discussed new avenues to expand bilateral cooperation in trade, industry and economic affairs, with food security and resilient supply chains emerging as key areas of focus.

Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Paramitha Tripathi met Kuwait’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Osama Khaled Abdullah Bodai on Sunday to review the longstanding partnership between the two countries and identify opportunities for greater economic engagement.

The discussions covered ways to broaden collaboration in sectors that can strengthen bilateral trade and industrial ties while addressing shared priorities related to food supplies and the stability of supply chains.

The meeting comes amid continued efforts by both countries to deepen their Strategic Partnership. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited Kuwait last month and held a series of high-level meetings with the country’s leadership.

During his visit, Jaishankar discussed bilateral cooperation with Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, covering areas including energy, trade, investment, defence, technology, food security and healthcare.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional developments and the situation in the Gulf, while India welcomed Kuwait’s continued support for the welfare and interests of the Indian community in the country.

Jaishankar separately held talks with Kuwait’s Defence Minister Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, where defence industry cooperation and maritime security were among the issues discussed.

His meeting with Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah also focused on strengthening bilateral relations and exchanging views on developments in the Gulf region.

The latest India-Kuwait engagement highlights the growing importance both nations attach to expanding economic and strategic cooperation across multiple sectors.
