Sriram Balaji and Anirud Chandrasekar Clinch Cancun Country Open Doubles Crown

Cancun, August 24, 2026; Indian tennis players N Sriram Balaji and Anirud Chandrasekar secured the doubles championship at the Cancun Country Open after overcoming Mexico’s Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela and Belarus’ Ivan Liutarevich in straight sets.

The Indian duo prevailed 6-3, 7-6(4) in a closely contested final, maintaining their composure during the crucial stages to claim the title at the ATP Challenger event.

Balaji and Chandrasekar found the breakthrough late in the opening set, converting their opportunity in the eighth game before serving out the set 6-3. Their strong serving continued to keep the opposition under pressure, particularly during the second-set battle.

Neither team managed to create much separation in the second set, with the contest eventually heading into a tiebreak. Balaji and Chandrasekar held their nerve in the decider to complete the victory 7-6(4).

The Cancun triumph gives Chandrasekar his 11th career title on the circuit and his second championship of the 2026 season. He had earlier lifted the Busan ATP Challenger 125 trophy with Japan’s Takeru Yuzuki.

For Balaji, the victory represents his fifth Challenger title of the year and the 15th of his career. His four earlier Challenger successes in 2026 came with Austrian partner Neil Oberleitner.

The champions also secured 125 ranking points and a prize of USD 9,900 for their successful campaign, while the runners-up earned 75 ranking points and USD 5,760.

The title adds another significant achievement to the Indian pair’s season as they continue to make their mark on the international doubles circuit.
