Delhi Police Celebrates International Day of Yoga 2026 with Enthusiastic Participation

NEW DELHI, 21 JUNE 2026: On the occasion of the International Day of Yoga 2026, Delhi Police organized a grand Yoga Session at the lush green lawns of the Police Headquarters, Jai Singh Road, New Delhi, reaffirming its commitment to the physical, mental and emotional well-being of its personnel.

Observed globally every year on 21st June, the International Day of Yoga celebrates the ancient Indian tradition of Yoga, which promotes harmony between mind and body while encouraging a healthy and balanced lifestyle. The day was proclaimed by the United Nations in 2014 following an initiative proposed by Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

The Yoga session was graced by Satish Golchha, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, as the Chief Guest. His presence inspired officers and personnel to embrace Yoga as a way of life for maintaining physical fitness, mental resilience and emotional well-being. Senior officers, including Special Commissioners of Police, Joint Commissioners of Police, Additional Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners of Police and officers of all ranks, actively participated in the programme.

The programme was organized by the Welfare Division, Delhi Police under the supervision of Sh. Atul Katiyar, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police (Welfare). The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers and personnel representing various units of Delhi Police.

Certified Yoga instructors from Delhi Police conducted the session in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol, guiding participants through various asanas, pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation techniques designed to enhance flexibility, reduce stress and improve overall health.

A large number of officers and personnel participated in the Yoga session, reflecting Delhi Police’s collective commitment to wellness, discipline and a healthy work environment. The programme also highlighted the importance of integrating Yoga into daily life to enhance operational effectiveness, stress management and overall quality of life among police personnel.

Speaking on the occasion, senior officers emphasized that Yoga is an integral part of preventive healthcare and stress management, especially for police personnel who perform demanding duties under challenging circumstances. They encouraged all members of the force to incorporate Yoga into their daily routine.

In addition to the programme held at Police Headquarters, Yoga sessions were also organised across districts and units of Delhi Police, witnessing enthusiastic participation by officers and staff.

The celebration concluded with a pledge by participants to adopt Yoga as a lifelong practice and to continue promoting fitness, mindfulness and holistic well-being, reinforcing Delhi Police’s vision of a healthy, disciplined and citizen-centric police force.
