Gurugram: Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi has been admitted to Medanta – The Medicity after reportedly experiencing health-related complications. Sources familiar with the matter said her condition remains stable and she is currently under close medical supervision.
According to information received, the veteran Congress leader was taken to the hospital late Tuesday night, where doctors began a detailed medical examination. Preliminary reports suggest that she is being treated for stomach discomfort and a possible urinary tract infection. A team of specialists is continuously monitoring her health and conducting necessary tests.
Following her hospitalisation, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi stayed back in Delhi and postponed his scheduled visit to Kerala. Rahul Gandhi, who was expected to participate in a public event in Kozhikode, addressed supporters virtually instead.
During his online address, Rahul Gandhi mentioned that he could not travel due to his mother’s health condition and said he remained concerned throughout the night. He also appreciated the medical staff and nurses attending to Sonia Gandhi during her treatment.
This is not the first time Sonia Gandhi has faced health issues in recent years. Earlier this year, she had undergone treatment at a Delhi hospital after suffering from fever and infection-related complications. In previous instances too, she was admitted to hospitals in Delhi and Himachal Pradesh for medical care linked to stomach-related concerns.
Senior Congress leaders and party workers have been closely monitoring updates regarding her condition. Supporters across the country have also been expressing concern and wishing for her speedy recovery on social media.
