India Aims to Deepen Defence Cooperation with Vietnam

New Delhi, April 9 2026: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday conveyed his congratulations to General Phan Van Giang following his appointment as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Vietnam.

The Defence Minister highlighted India’s intent to further enhance its long standing military and strategic ties with Vietnam. He noted that the partnership between the two nations continues to play a key role in regional stability and cooperation.

Singh emphasized that both countries are keen to expand collaboration across defence sectors, including security engagement, military level exchanges, and industry partnerships. He expressed confidence that bilateral relations will continue to advance steadily in the coming years.

Reaffirming India’s commitment to its partnership with Vietnam, he stated that the growing engagement reflects mutual trust and shared strategic interests between the two nations.
