Russia Says Its Firms Can Increase Oil and LNG Supplies to India Strengthening Strategic Energy Cooperation

Russia Ready to Scale Up Oil, LNG and Fertiliser Supplies to India: Denis Manturov

New Delhi, 3 April 2026; Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Co‑Chair of the India‑Russia Inter‑Governmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, Denis Manturov, said Russian companies are capable of scaling up deliveries of crude oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the Indian market amid the ongoing global energy disruptions caused by the conflict in West Asia. The announcement came during Manturov’s official visit to India, where he held high‑level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and other senior officials to bolster bilateral cooperation across key sectors.

Manturov underscored that Russian firms have the capacity to consistently boost energy supplies, which could help India meet its fuel demand at a time when traditional supply routes face instability. He also highlighted that Russia increased exports of in‑demand mineral fertilisers to India by around 40 per cent by the end of 2025 and affirmed readiness to continue supporting India’s requirements in this segment.

The talks between the two sides also reiterated progress on collaboration in nuclear energy projects, including the construction of new power units at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, which are advancing according to agreed timelines. Both countries reviewed outcomes from the 23rd India‑Russia Annual Summit, exploring expansion of cooperation in trade, industry, connectivity, technology, and critical minerals alongside enhanced energy ties.

Manturov’s visit, spanning from 2 to 3 April, reflects deepening strategic and economic links between Moscow and New Delhi, with energy cooperation seen as a key pillar in ensuring India’s energy security and supporting long‑term bilateral engagement.
