Faridabad: Union Minister of State for Cooperation Krishan Pal Gurjar on Sunday inaugurated the high-tech Atal Library in Faridabad, describing it as a symbol of New India’s thinking and a major step toward Digital India. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Badkhal MLA Dhanesh Adlakha, Faridabad NIT MLA Satish Fagana, Hodal MLA Harinder Singh, BJP District President Pankaj Poojan Rampal, and other dignitaries.

The library building has been constructed by HSVP at a cost of approximately Rs.3.85 crore, while Rs.1.99 crore has been spent under CSR for the development of the e-library. Krishan Pal Gurjar participated in the inauguration as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, the Union Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has witnessed a digital revolution over the past eleven and a half years, which has not only curbed corruption but also ensured direct benefits to citizens, farmers, workers, and women. He said the Atal Library has been developed as a high-tech knowledge center equipped with modern technology to serve students and researchers.

He emphasized that strengthening education through both digital and traditional modes is the need of the hour. The e-library, he said, reflects this vision by offering digital resources, books, online study material, and modern study facilities at one place. He added that in a rapidly changing world, connecting youth with modern technology is essential to remain competitive globally.

The minister said the e-library is dedicated to the youth of Faridabad and will provide access to e-books, digital content, podcasts, audio-visual sessions, and group discussion facilities. Along with digital resources, the library is also enriched with traditional books to ensure holistic learning. He informed that the library includes air-conditioning, high-speed internet, a fire-fighting system, modern and comfortable furniture, and spacious seating areas.

Facilities include a mezzanine floor, four group discussion chambers, an audio-visual room, and specially designed seating for long study hours. A community learning auditorium with a capacity of 200 students has also been developed. The library complex further houses a multimedia room, reading hall, and digital library section. A garden area around the premises is being developed to provide a calm and open environment for study.

The digital library section offers e-books, online educational material, and other digital learning resources. He said the library will regularly provide books, magazines, and newspapers related to Indian history, culture, general knowledge, science, and current affairs. Structured dissemination of Indian culture and history will also be carried out through audio-visual sessions. For students’ convenience, cafeteria and canteen facilities have been arranged within the campus.
He expressed confidence that the Atal Library will emerge as a major center for education, study, and intellectual development in the region. ADC Satbir Mann, along with several senior officers and distinguished citizens, was also present on the occasion.
