Amit Shah hoists Tricolour at Residence, calls ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ a Symbol of National Unity & Patriotism

Campaign inspires 140 crore Indians to honour freedom fighters’ legacy and work towards making India a developed nation

New Delhi- Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, hoisted the national flag at his residence in New Delhi today, marking his participation in the ongoing ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative. The campaign, launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to inspire citizens to display the tricolour at their homes, fostering a spirit of unity and national pride.

Speaking through a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Amit Shah described the campaign as a people’s movement that has successfully brought together citizens from every corner of the country. He emphasised that the initiative not only celebrates the country’s freedom but also strengthens the emotional bond of patriotism among India’s 140 crore citizens.

“The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement has become a mass campaign that binds the nation together in a single thread of unity,” Shah said. “It reminds us of the countless freedom fighters who dedicated their lives, made sacrifices, and showed unwavering commitment to achieve the dream of an independent India. Today, their legacy inspires us to make our nation developed and the best in the world.”

The campaign, first introduced in 2022 as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations marking 75 years of India’s independence, has since grown into an annual tradition. Citizens from diverse backgrounds — students, professionals, farmers, and members of the armed forces — participate by hoisting the tricolour at homes, offices, schools, and public spaces. Government departments, institutions, and civil society organisations have also joined hands to ensure wide-scale participation.

This year, the campaign carries renewed significance, with celebrations taking place across all states and union territories. Streets, marketplaces, and residential colonies are adorned with the national flag, and various cultural programmes, patriotic music events, and awareness drives have been organised to mark the occasion.

Amit Shah’s gesture of hoisting the tricolour at his residence is seen as a symbolic reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to preserving the ideals of the freedom struggle while working towards a self-reliant and globally respected India.

As India moves forward with the vision of becoming a developed nation, the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign serves as a reminder that unity, dedication, and patriotism remain the foundation of the country’s strength.
