New Delhi, August 12 — India’s Test captain Shubman Gill has clinched the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for July 2025, following a stellar run in the Test series against England.
The 25-year-old amassed 567 runs at an average of 94.50 across three Tests, including a double century and two hundreds, edging out England captain Ben Stokes and South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder for the honour.
Gill called it a “special” recognition, as it came during his maiden Test series as captain. His 269 and 161 at Edgbaston powered India to a record 336-run win, making him the first Indian captain to score a Test double hundred in England and breaking multiple batting records, including Sachin Tendulkar’s highest overseas score outside Asia.
Despite a dip in form at Lord’s, Gill rebounded with a crucial unbeaten 103 at Old Trafford, rescuing India from a collapse and securing a series-levelling draw. His consistency earned him both the Player of the Month and Player of the Series awards, with 754 runs across the five Tests — the second-highest tally in a World Test Championship series.
This marks Gill’s fourth ICC Player of the Month award, the most by any male cricketer, cementing his status as one of modern cricket’s most prolific performers.
