Palwal Police Issues Special Advisory on Tragic Incidents Due to Bathing in Rivers and Canals – Varun Singla, SP Palwal

Palwal, May 3: Taking cognizance of the recent tragic incidents across the state due to bathing in rivers and canals, SP Palwal, Shri Varun Singla, IPS, has issued a special advisory and appealed to the public to remain vigilant. He urged parents to closely monitor their children’s daily activities and prevent them from visiting rivers, canals, ponds, and swimming pools to avoid any further mishaps.

SP Varun Singla highlighted that, particularly during the scorching summer season, it has been commonly observed that children and youth gather and head to water bodies to cool off. This has unfortunately become a kind of trend. However, due to strong currents and lack of swimming skills, such activities often lead to tragic outcomes.

He emphasized that such accidents can shatter entire families and leave lasting trauma that may persist across generations. Given the ongoing summer holidays, he appealed to all parents and guardians to exercise heightened caution, as children and young people often plan group outings to such places during this period. He also urged village panchayats to make public announcements (munadi) within their villages to raise awareness.

Strict Instructions to Police Station Heads for Regular Monitoring

SP Varun Singla has instructed all police station heads in the district to keep a special watch over rivers, canals, and ponds in their jurisdictions in addition to their routine patrols. Warning boards must be installed at these locations. Police personnel have also been directed to take strict action against individuals found consuming alcohol or indulging in other forms of intoxication near water bodies or parked vehicles by the riversides.
