SHAHDARA POLICE, PS KRISHANA NAGAR STAFF SAFEGUARDS COMMUNITY: SWIFT ACTION PREVENTS FIRE INCIDENT DURING DIWALI CELEBRATIONS

New Delhi , 1 November , 2024 – On 31/10/2024, at about 10:15 PM, on the occasion of Deewali, beat staff of PS Krishna Nagar was on area patrolling duty, the team observed a fire outbreak on the 1st floor of Kanishka Banquet Hall, at D-35, Main Road, Kanti Nagar,. The banquet hall was locked from the outside, with no one present inside at that time. Prompt action was taken by the staff and district control room in was informed to send the message to the Fire Department and BSES.
Seven fire tenders reached at the site and successfully extinguished the blaze under the supervision of Mr. Jaswant Singh Meena, Assistant Division Officer. The fire caused huge damage to the ground floor and 1st & 2nd floors of the banquet hall building. District crime team members were called to the scene and recorded the incident with photographs. A message was also sent to the FSL team for further investigation.
Mr. Rakesh Nagpal, owner of the building, was contacted. No injuries were reported to any one. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation. Further inquiries are being conducted to determine the source and potential reasons for the fire.
On October 31, 2024, at about 10:15 PM, on the occasion of Diwali festival celebrations, the vigilant beat staff of Police Station Krishna Nagar were on their area patrolling duty. While on patrolling, they noticed an outbreak of fire on the first floor of the Kanishka Banquet Hall, located at D-35, Main Road, Kanti Nagar. The banquet hall, which was locked from the outside and no one was present in Banquet Hall at that time.
The beat staff promptly send a message to district control room, which immediately relayed the information to both the Fire Department and the BSES. Within minutes, seven fire tenders arrived at the scene, effectively led by Assistant Division Officer Mr. Jaswant Singh Meena, and initiated the operations. The fire was brought under control, preventing the fire for spreading it to nearby buildings. The coordinated efforts of the Fire Department and the police ensured that the fire was confined only to the banquet hall, even though it did cause damage to the Banquet building.

The Delhi Police team displayed exemplary diligence by securing the site, maintaining public safety, and ensuring a seamless flow of operations at a time when many resources were stretched due to the festival. District crime team members were promptly called to the scene to record the incident. Additionally, a formal request was sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team to conduct an in-depth analysis of the incident and help determine the exact cause of the fire.
Mr. Rakesh Nagpal, the owner of the banquet hall building, was promptly contacted and informed of the situation. Fortunately, due to the quick response of the police and fire services, no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and inquiries are underway. The Delhi Police team’s quick response, professionalism, and dedication to public safety on the occasion of Deewali exemplify their commitment to community safety.
