New Twist in Bengaluru Officer Attack Case

Bengaluru : A new development has surfaced in the alleged assault case involving an Indian Air Force couple in Bengaluru, following the release of multiple CCTV videos that appear to show both the officer and the accused engaged in a physical altercation. The footage has led Bengaluru Police to confirm that the incident was not one-sided, as initially portrayed in viral social media posts.

The incident came to light after Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose posted a distressing video on social media with visible injuries to his face and neck. In his video, Bose claimed that he and his wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita Bose, were attacked by a biker during a road rage incident. The couple was on their way to the airport from DRDO Colony in CV Raman Nagar, when the confrontation occurred in the early hours of the morning.

According to Bose’s account, a biker approached from behind and stopped their car. The man then allegedly began abusing them in Kannada after spotting a DRDO sticker on their vehicle. Bose claimed the biker said, “You DRDO people… this is Kannada land,” and struck him on the forehead with a key, causing bleeding.

However, CCTV footage from nearby cameras now suggests that both parties were involved in the altercation. In the video, the accused, identified as Vikas Kumar, wearing a green neon jacket, is seen being pushed by Wing Commander Bose, who then grabs him by the neck while his wife attempts to restrain him. The scuffle escalates, and bystanders are seen intervening. At one point, the accused falls to the ground and kicks the officer after allegedly being punched.

Speaking on the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Devraj D, stated that the clash involved mutual assault and clarified, “This is not a Kannadigas vs non-Kannadigas issue,” countering the communal angle being circulated online.

Meanwhile, Vikas Kumar has filed a counter-complaint against the officer, complicating the legal process. Police have now registered complaints from both sides and are examining multiple CCTV angles to piece together the sequence of events.

In her complaint, Squadron Leader Madhumita claimed the biker was driving rashly and nearly collided with their vehicle.
