Delhi Govt to Implement Ayushman Bharat With Enhanced ₹5 Lakh Coverage

The Delhi government has announced its decision to implement the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme, providing enhanced healthcare coverage to residents. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta made the announcement while addressing the media after chairing the first Cabinet meeting of the newly formed government. She stated that the scheme, which includes a top-up of ₹5 lakh funded by the Delhi government, was unanimously approved and will be rolled out at the earliest.

The Ayushman Bharat scheme, launched by the central government, offers health insurance coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family annually for secondary and tertiary healthcare services. With the additional ₹5 lakh top-up from the Delhi government, beneficiaries in the national capital will have access to medical coverage of up to ₹10 lakh per year. This initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on families seeking treatment for serious illnesses and medical emergencies.

During the Cabinet meeting, it was also decided that 14 reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) would be tabled during the first sitting of the Delhi Assembly, ensuring transparency and accountability in the government’s financial management.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, while announcing her ministerial responsibilities, stated that she would oversee key departments, including General Administration, Services, Finance, Revenue, Women and Child Development, Land and Building, Information and Public Relations, Vigilance, Administrative Reforms, and Planning.
