Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025 to Conclude on February 26 with Grand Ceremonies

Prayagraj :  The Uttar Pradesh government and the Mahakumbh Mela authority have strongly refuted rumours suggesting that the Prayagraj Mahakumbh will continue beyond its scheduled end date of February 26. These rumours, which have been circulating widely on social media, were dismissed as entirely false by Prayagraj District Magistrate Ravindra Mandhad. He emphasized that the Mahakumbh Mela follows a pre-determined schedule, which is set according to auspicious timings and religious traditions, and there has been no proposal from the government or district administration to extend the fair beyond the announced date.

District Magistrate Mandhad assured devotees that all necessary arrangements are being made for a smooth conclusion of the event. Authorities are focusing on ensuring the orderly movement of pilgrims, particularly for those planning to take a holy dip in the Sangam before returning to their respective destinations. With the large influx of visitors in the final days, the administration has prioritized traffic and crowd management to minimize disruptions while maintaining the safety and convenience of devotees.

Addressing concerns about transportation, Mandhad clarified that no railway station has been closed without prior notice. However, the Prayag Sangam Railway Station, which is located adjacent to the fairgrounds, has been permanently shut down to prevent overcrowding. He reassured pilgrims that all other railway stations in Prayagraj remain fully operational, and additional measures have been taken to ensure smooth transit for passengers. Authorities are working closely with railway and transport officials to regulate the movement of vehicles and trains to facilitate the departure of devotees without impacting the daily life of the city’s residents.

In the final phase of the Mahakumbh, the administration has intensified efforts to maintain public safety, hygiene, and sanitation. Special teams have been deployed to oversee waste management and cleanliness across the Mela grounds, ensuring that the sacred site remains pristine for visitors. Medical camps and emergency response teams are also in place to provide immediate assistance if needed. Security personnel have been stationed at key points to manage the crowd and prevent any untoward incidents.

With lakhs of pilgrims expected to participate in the last few days of the grand event, officials have urged the public to rely only on official announcements for updates and to refrain from spreading or believing in unverified information.
