Haryana, 30 Oct 2024- Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has accused the Congress party of attempting to undermine the integrity of the state’s electoral process. His remarks came in the wake of the Election Commission’s dismissal of the Congress party’s claims regarding alleged election irregularities. Saini made these comments during the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ oath-taking ceremony held at the Haryana Civil Secretariat. During the event, Saini emphasized that the Congress party’s assertions of electoral misconduct were unfounded. He pointed out that despite the Congress’s claims of a significant resurgence, often referred to as a ‘Congress wave,’ they have shown a lack of substantial ground presence in Haryana. This statement followed the recent assembly elections in which the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 48 out of 90 seats, while Congress managed to secure only 37 seats.
The Chief Minister’s remarks were aimed at reinforcing the credibility of the electoral process and the BJP’s victories. He stated, “The Congress party’s allegations are nothing more than an attempt to create unnecessary doubts about the electoral process. The people of Haryana have made their choice clear, and the Congress should accept the verdict with grace rather than raising baseless accusations.” Furthermore, Saini referenced an official letter from the Election Commission, which consisted of eight pages addressing the concerns raised by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. The letter unequivocally dismissed the party’s claims as frivolous and cautioned that such unfounded allegations could potentially disrupt the electoral process and undermine public confidence in democratic institutions.
In addition to his criticism of Congress, Saini took the opportunity to pay tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel during the ceremony, acknowledging Patel’s pivotal role in fostering national unity. The Chief Minister urged the public to uphold the spirit of integrity within the nation, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and harmony among various factions of society.
Saini’s statements have sparked discussions across political circles in Haryana, with various parties weighing in on the accusations and the ongoing electoral discourse. The BJP has positioned itself as the party of stability and governance, while Congress faces challenges in regaining a foothold in the state. As the political landscape evolves in Haryana, the tension between the BJP and Congress appears to be intensifying, particularly as both parties prepare for future electoral contests. The call for integrity and faith in the electoral process will likely remain a focal point in the ongoing political debates leading up to the next elections.
