Chennai, August 13, 2024: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is gearing up for the launch of the EOS-08 Earth Observation Satellite on August 15, coinciding with India’s Independence Day. The satellite, weighing 175.5 kg, will be launched aboard the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV-D3) from the Sriharikota spaceport at 0917 hrs IST.
This mission represents the third and final developmental flight of the SSLV-D3, completing the SSLV Development Project and paving the way for future operational missions by Indian industry and the NewSpace India Limited (NSIL).
The primary goals of the EOS-08 mission include the design and development of a microsatellite, the creation of payload instruments compatible with this satellite bus, and the incorporation of advanced technologies for future operational satellites. The countdown for the launch will commence on Wednesday, according to ISRO sources.
