Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 3 2024 : In a move to support rescue missions and stand in solidarity with citizens affected by the recent landslides, BSNL has announced free unlimited call and data usage for three days for all customers in Wayanad district and Nilambur taluk. The telecom company is also providing 100 free SMS per day to these users.
In addition, BSNL is offering free mobile connections to affected individuals in Chooralmala and Mundakkai villages. Notably, the sole mobile tower in Chooralmala, which belongs to BSNL, along with the Meppadi mobile tower, has been rapidly upgraded to 4G capabilities to ensure better connectivity during the crisis.
BSNL’s Principal General Manager, Saju George, confirmed that the company has deployed the 4G spectrum and 700 MHz frequency waves in the region to enhance communication infrastructure. Dedicated toll-free numbers have been set up for the health department, along with high-speed internet connections and mobile services for district administration headquarters and relief coordinators.
