New Delhi, July 18, 2024 – Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met with Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda late yesterday to discuss various health sector initiatives and request additional financial support.
In the meeting, Chief Minister Sukhu outlined the State Government’s dedication to advancing the health sector by upgrading hospital infrastructure and medical services. He stressed the importance of acquiring advanced medical technology to minimize the need for residents to travel out of state for specialized care.
Sukhu also called for increased funding to complete the construction of Nahan, Chamba, and Hamirpur medical colleges. He underscored the state’s commitment to providing high-quality medical education and advocated for support to help recent nursing graduates secure employment opportunities abroad.
Furthermore, Sukhu appealed for additional financial aid for the Bulk Drug Park, highlighting its crucial role in the state’s economic growth and its potential to create significant local employment.
Union Minister Nadda assured that the Centre would extend all possible support to the state. The meeting was attended by Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sunder Singh Thakur, Principal Secretary Finance Devesh Kumar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, Resident Commissioner Meera Mohanty, and Private Secretary to the Union Health Minister Ashutosh Garg.
