The Impressive TimesA tragic incident occurred during the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri, Odisha on Sunday, resulting in the death of one devotee and injuries to 15 others in a stampede-like situation.
The injured devotees were swiftly admitted to the hospital, with most of them suffering minor injuries and being discharged after receiving primary treatment. Currently, efforts are ongoing to provide necessary treatment to those seriously injured.
The deceased devotee, who has not yet been identified but is reported to be from outside Odisha, tragically lost his life during the chariot pulling of Lord Balabhadra. The incident occurred when an individual fell to the ground, resulting in a minor stampede-like situation that caused injuries to 15 people. In response to the incident, Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi has announced an ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh to be given to the next of kin of the deceased.
