Chandigarh:
The Haryana government has initiated a series of measures to strengthen its public healthcare system, focusing on improving efficiency, accountability, and patient care across the state.
Leading the effort, Sumita Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, chaired a high-level meeting with civil surgeons and senior officials to review the current state of services and outline future priorities.
During the meeting, officials were directed to ensure better management of drug supplies and expand access to diagnostic services. A structured plan was discussed to improve hospital operations and reduce gaps in treatment delivery.
Dr. Mishra emphasised the importance of maintaining real-time records of medicine stocks. She instructed civil surgeons to regularly monitor inventory and ensure that essential medicines are consistently available at all healthcare facilities without disruption.
To enhance transparency, officials have been tasked with updating drug stock data at the beginning of every week. The move is expected to help authorities track shortages early and respond more effectively.
In a separate development, the state government has approved the installation of a statue of B. R. Ambedkar in Ambala Cantonment.
Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij has sanctioned ₹50 lakh from his discretionary fund for the project. The statue will be set up at a designated location in the cantonment area, marking a significant cultural and commemorative initiative.
The twin developments reflect the government’s focus on both strengthening essential services and promoting public memorials of national importance.
