Australia :In the wake of a humiliating defeat against Australia at Sabina Park, Cricket West Indies (CWI) President Kishore Shallow has called for an emergency meeting to review the team’s performance, particularly focusing on the third and final Test match. West Indies collapsed to a shocking 27 all out in their second innings—the second-lowest total in Test cricket history—handing Australia a dominant 176-run victory and a 3-0 series whitewash.
Australian bowlers Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland dismantled the Windies batting lineup, with Starc delivering the fastest five-wicket haul of his career and Boland claiming a stunning hat-trick to break West Indies’ back early in the innings. The loss left the Caribbean side in sixth place on the World Test Championship table, sparking serious concerns about the direction of West Indies cricket.
Reacting swiftly, CWI President Shallow has instructed the Chair of the Cricket Strategy and Officiating Committee to hold an urgent review meeting. In a decisive move aimed at revitalizing the team’s fortunes, Shallow has invited iconic West Indian cricketers—Sir Clive Lloyd, Sir Vivian Richards, and Brian Lara—to join the committee. They will work alongside Dr. Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Desmond Haynes, and Ian Bradshaw, who are already serving on the panel.
“This engagement is not ceremonial,” Shallow stated. “These are men who helped define our golden eras, and their perspectives will be invaluable as we shape the next phase of our cricket development.”
Emphasizing unity and purpose, the CWI President said, “This is a moment that calls for collaboration, not division. We need everyone on board—fans, players, coaches, legends, and administrators. There is much work to be done, but we must do it together.”
He also acknowledged the emotional impact of the defeat on West Indian fans, stating, “The result hurts deeply, not just because of how we lost, but because of what West Indies cricket has always meant to our people—pride, identity, and possibility.”
Despite the dismal performance, Shallow remains hopeful, citing promising bowling talent and the determination of the batters. “Now is not the time to turn away. Now is the time to stand even closer as a people,” he concluded.
