New Delhi : India celebrated another proud moment in the world of shooting sports as Inder Singh Suruchi and Saurabh Chaudhary clinched the gold medal in the 10-metre Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the ISSF World Cup 2025, held in Lima, Peru. The Indian pair displayed outstanding composure and precision to defeat the Chinese duo of Qianxun Yao and Kai Hu with a score of 17-9 in the final match.
The Indian team began their campaign on a strong note, qualifying comfortably for the gold medal match. In the final, Suruchi and Chaudhary combined their experience and nerves of steel to deliver consistent shots, keeping the pressure on their Chinese counterparts from the start. As the final progressed, the Indian duo maintained their lead, showcasing remarkable team chemistry and technical finesse. With every round, their dominance grew clearer, eventually wrapping up the match with a convincing 17-9 victory.
This victory adds another feather to the cap for Saurabh Chaudhary, who has been one of India’s standout shooters in recent years, and also marks a major milestone for Inder Singh Suruchi, who continues to rise in the international shooting circuit. Their performance was a blend of precision, control, and strategic timing—traits essential for success in the high-pressure format of mixed team shooting.
However, it was a day of mixed emotions for the Indian contingent, as another promising pair, Olympic medalist Manu Bhakar and Ravinder Singh, narrowly missed out on a podium finish. They lost the bronze medal match to the Chinese pair Qianke Ma and Yifan Zhang, who edged them out in a closely fought contest. Despite their strong start in the qualifiers, Bhakar and Singh couldn’t convert their momentum into a medal finish.
India’s overall showing at the ISSF World Cup has been promising, with young talent continuing to shine on the world stage. The gold medal win by Suruchi and Chaudhary further strengthens India’s position as a dominant force in air pistol events.
As the tournament progresses, hopes remain high for more podium finishes, with several events still on the calendar. The victory in Lima is a significant boost to the Indian shooting team’s confidence ahead of major competitions later this year, including the Asian Championships and preparations for Paris 2024.
