Dubai, Feb 14 (UNI) – The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially unveiled the prize money details for the much-anticipated ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, set to commence on February 19.
Making a grand return after nearly eight years, the ICC Champions Trophy will feature eight top teams battling for an impressive total prize pool of $6.9 million – a 53% increase from the 2017 edition. The champions will be rewarded with a massive $2.24 million, while the runners-up will receive $1.12 million. Each semi-finalist will walk away with $560,000.
Every match in the group stage carries weight, with over $34,000 awarded per victory. Teams finishing fifth and sixth will secure $350,000 each, while the seventh and eighth-placed sides will earn $140,000. Additionally, all eight teams are guaranteed $125,000 simply for participating in the tournament.
This edition holds special significance as Pakistan will host an ICC event for the first time since 1996. The format includes two groups of four, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the semi-finals.
The ICC has confirmed that the Men’s Champions Trophy will now be a quadrennial event, showcasing the world’s best ODI teams. Additionally, the Women’s Champions Trophy is set to debut in 2027 in a T20 format.
ICC Chair Jay Shah expressed excitement about the tournament, stating:
“The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 marks a key milestone in cricket, bringing back a competition that celebrates the best of ODI cricket. With every match carrying immense significance, this tournament promises to be a thrilling spectacle.”
He further emphasized that the increased prize money reflects the ICC’s commitment to growing the sport and ensuring its global appeal. “Beyond financial rewards, the tournament fosters intense competition, engages fans worldwide, and strengthens cricket’s legacy for future generations,” he added.
