India’s Men’s Team Triumphs Over Peru, Women Beat Iran to Secure Quarterfinal Berth at Kho Kho WC

New Delhi : In the Kho Kho World Cup 2025, both the Indian men’s and women’s teams displayed remarkable performances, advancing to the quarterfinals at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi yesterday. The men’s team triumphed with an emphatic 70-38 victory over Peru, dominating right from the outset. India’s stellar performance was marked by strong contributions from Aditya Ganpule, Siva Reddy, and Sachin Bhargo. The team maintained their dominance throughout all four turns, ending with a clinical 32-point win, which not only secured their place in the quarterfinals but also highlighted their strong aspirations for the title.

Aniket Pote was named Best Player for his exceptional efforts, while Ramji Kashyap was honored as the Best Attacker. From the Peru squad, Geiner Vargas was recognized as the Best Attacker. Reflecting on the victory, Aniket expressed confidence in their approach, stating that their strategies have been clear since the opening match, and the team remains focused on clinching the World Cup trophy.

On the women’s side, India delivered an awe-inspiring 100-16 win over Iran, ensuring their progression to the quarterfinals. The Indian women’s team was aggressive from the very first turn, with Ashwini leading the charge and Meenu making crucial touchpoints. The team scored a staggering 50 points in Turn 1, setting the tone for the rest of the game. Their dominance continued through all four turns, highlighted by a spectacular 6-minute-8-second Dream Run in Turn 3 that sealed the match.

Priyanka Ingle was named the Best Player, while Meenu was awarded the title of Best Defender. Mobina from the Iranian team earned recognition as the Best Attacker. After the match, Captain Priyanka Ingle dedicated the victory to the team’s collective efforts and expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the fans. With both teams securing their spots in the quarterfinals, India is well-positioned to contend for the title in the upcoming stages of the competition.
