Greater Noida, June 5, 2025: Marking the occasion of World Environment Day, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) organized a large-scale tree plantation drive across the city, aiming to foster environmental consciousness and combat pollution.
Leading the initiative, CEO Ravi Kumar N.G. planted saplings and encouraged residents to actively participate in making Greater Noida greener and more sustainable. The drive saw enthusiastic involvement from GNIDA officials, local residential, industrial, and social organizations. The plantation effort aligns with this year’s global theme: “Beat Plastic Pollution.”
During the drive, approximately 10,000 saplings were planted across various locations in Greater Noida including parks, green belts, residential zones, and the authority campus.
On the occasion of World Environment Day, Additional Chief Executive Officers (ACEOs) of Greater Noida Authority including Soumya Srivastava, Shrilakshmi V.S., Prerna Singh, and Sumit Yadav also participated in a tree plantation drive by planting Pilkhan saplings in the park located near the Authority’s main office.
Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Abhishek Pathak and Deputy General Manager (DGM) Abhishek Jain also planted saplings at the same site. Additionally, Sonu Bhadana, President of the Greater Noida Employees Association, joined the plantation activity at the same park.
Earlier, ACEO Prerna Singh, Gunja Singh, GM Projects A.K. Singh, Senior Managers Rajesh Gautam and Chet Ram Singh, along with Vinod Sharma and Sunny Yadav, and Senior Manager of the Horticulture Department, P.P. Mishra, planted trees in the campus of the Authority’s office located in Techzone 4, Greater Noida West. Buddha Vilas, Assistant Director of the Horticulture Department, and Manager Mithlesh Kumar also carried out plantation activities in Techzone 4 and Ecotech-12. Plantation was conducted at several other locations including Sector Ecotech-11 and 12, Knowledge Park-4, Sector-16, Swarn Nagari, and other areas. In addition to the Horticulture Department, Charan Singh, Senior Manager from the Health Department, planted saplings in the premises of the Remediation Plant located in Lakhnawali. Saplings of various species such as Pilkhan, Jamun, Papdi, and Guava were planted in most areas. During the drive, ACEO Soumya Srivastava instructed the Horticulture Department not only to plant trees but also to ensure their regular care and maintenance. In his address, CEO Ravi Kumar N.G. emphasized the importance of community-driven green initiatives. He appealed to residents to plant and nurture trees in homes, along roadsides, parks, and green zones, ensuring continuous environmental care.
This concerted effort reflects Greater Noida Authority’s strong commitment to sustainability and public participation in environmental preservation.
